ONE MAN FOR ONE ENGINE
Even the most steadfast GT-R lovers might not be aware just how special the powerplant in their beloved cars is. You can lift the hood and look, and never see the passion, dedication and talent that go into building that monster of an engine, but it’s there. You see, in all the world, there are only four master craftsmen who hand-assemble the engine in your GT-R. These men are known by a Japanese term that describes a craftsman who has spent years perfecting his skills. These four special men are “Takumi” and they have over 100 years of engine building experience between them. The passion they share is strong. One Takumi said, “We put our souls into each engine, hoping to deliver that excitement to customers.” Their personal reward is a plaque bearing their signature on the engines they build, but you, the driver, get the true reward – power, precision and speed.

THE GT-R’S UNIQUE POWERPLANT AND DRIVETRAIN
An automatic dual-clutch 6-speed transmission sends the 545 or 595 horsepower and 463 or 481 ft-lbs of torque from the 3.8L twin-turbocharged V6 engine to all four wheels – the larger horsepower/torque numbers belong to the Nismo edition of the Nissan GT-R. Nissan created the world’s first independent rear transaxle for an AWD vehicle and mounted the transmission, transfer case and clutches in the rear of the chassis. This lends the GT-R exceptional front-to-rear distribution of weight for the optimal handling.

A CRAZY COOL COCKPIT AWAITS
It’s easy to fall in love with the racy nature of the Nissan GT-R. The brawny steering wheel, straightforward gauge set and well-bolstered seats cater to comfort, even as a center-mounted LCD screen provide information about boost, acceleration, g-force, braking and steering data when you are putting the GT-R through its paces. You can even record and playback that information! Premium models come faux-suede inserts in the leather seating, Bluetooth phone/audio connectivity, a multi-function display, XM NavTraffic/Zagat Survey/Weather, and Bose 11-speaker audio with an iPod interface. The Black Edition adds black/red heated leather Recaro seats, black and red trim in the cabin, and a dark headliner. This model also gets lightweight 6-spoke black metallic RAYS wheels and a special handmade dry-carbon fiber rear wing. For the Track Edition, special carbon fiber front spoiler air ducts, front/rear brake cooling air guides, and a specially revised suspension features Bilstein DampTronic Gas Shocks.
